Sponsorship
We don't run display advertising. A small number of sponsors support our work, on these terms.
Last updated 16 October 2026What sponsors can do
- Sponsor The Brief, with one clearly labelled slot per issue.
- Publish sponsored articles, written by or for the sponsor and labelled as such.
- Take a panel in the rail beside articles in a relevant section. Paid panels are labelled “Sponsored”; unpaid ones are labelled “Promotion” and say they aren't paid for. Every panel carries only claims the company publishes itself, and states its relationship with us.
- Support a recurring feature, credited as “supported by” the sponsor.
What they can't do
- Influence our journalism, see it before it's published or ask for coverage to be changed or removed.
- Sponsor, supply or appear beside figures on the data desk, the ticker or “The number”.
- Collect readers' details through our pages. We don't share The Brief's list with anyone.
How it's labelled
Sponsored articles carry “Sponsored” before the section label on every card, in the Latest list, at the top of the article with the sponsor's name, in RSS titles and in the structured data search and AI engines read. Links to sponsors are marked as sponsored links. The label is built into the page templates, so it can't be left off.
